Bring the coast indoors with these perfect coastal living room paint colors you are sure to enjoy for years to come!
One of the top questions I get asked on Instagram is about the paint colors that we have in our home.
I’m always so flattered that someone loves our style so much that they want to have it in their own home and now is as good of time as any to share these colors with you, as well as some that would also be great if the ones we have don’t fit the bill.
I thought I would focus on the living room since that’s where we (and most families) spend a bulk of their time!

Coastal Paint Colors Perfect for a Living Room
At a glance here’s the colors I’ll be talking about, but keep reading to see the colors in real spaces!
- Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace
- Sherwin Williams Sea Salt
- Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge
- Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue
- Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
- Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
Pro tip: You can always get any Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore color matched in another brand’s paint if you’re on a budget!
Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace
Room sources: Rug | Sideboard | Woven Chain Link (similar) | Rivergrass Planter | Sofa | Coffee Table (seadrift finish) | Woven Shades | Accent Chairs (similar, budget-friendly chairs) | Chair Pillow Covers | Sofa Pillow | Woven Side Table | White Vase | Pink Hydrangeas & White Hydrangeas | Pendant Light | Coffee Table Tray | Coffee Table Book | Gold Candle | Match Cloche
My own living room (as well as our dining room, kitchen, primary bedroom and guest bath!) are all Chantilly Lace and I could not be more happy with it!
To me, it’s the perfect white paint color that works for both walls and trim; our trim is actually Chantilly Lace as well!
It’s a nice bright white that doesn’t feel too sterile, and I feel that it works well in spaces that get great natural light, and those that don’t. Our living room is north facing and as a result feels a bit dark most of the day. As you can see, the Chantilly Lace paint does make our space feel lighter and airier, despite low levels of natural light.
Do be cautioned that it can have some bluish/gray undertones though depending on the light, so as always, you’ll want to test a sample in your own home before you decide.
Sherwin Williams Sea Salt
If you’re looking for the perfect touch of a light and airy coastal blue, Sherwin Williams Sea Salt is your color.
Sea Salt is a light blue with a hint of green, with cool undertones. It’s the perfect color for creating a relaxing and serene atmosphere in any room.
Benjamin Moore Simply White
Another super popular white paint color if Chantilly Lace isn’t your cup of tea is Simply White by Ben Moore.
Benjamin Moore Simply White is a bit warmer than Chantilly Lace, but it can pull in some more yellow undertones in certain light settings so depending on your home and the natural light available, you may see more of those yellow undertones, or none at all.
Also, a fun little fact: This is the white that Serena and Lily uses in all their photos!
Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge
I am in LOVE with Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge.
Yes, this is a kitchen island and we are talking about the best coastal paint colors for a living room, but I will say that this could be a great color for an accent wall or maybe some built ins by a fireplace. This would be the perfect shade of a blue gray paint color!
Water’s Edge is more pigmented than something like Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, but it’s still neutral enough that it can definitely work in a living room.
Consider pairing it with white or wood tones to bring in the natural elements.
Also if you have lighter wood floors, this color would be stunning.
Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue
Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue reminds me of Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, with a touch more blue and a bit more pigmented.
This is also a popular paint color choice for painting coastal home exterior front porch ceilings, especially in the south.
This color works great with any floors, and also looks amazing with a ton of natural light coming from either large windows or floor to ceiling glass.
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
We have used Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter in our home and it’s still such a great neutral coastal paint color for our living room!
I shared my full thoughts on this Instagram reel I created but here’s the long and short of it – I loved it in the rooms where I got a ton of natural light (my dining room) but didn’t love it in my living room where I get a lot less natural light.
So you’ll see at the beginning of this post that we’ve since painted our living room Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. However, I did want to include it on this list of coastal living room paint colors because with the right amount of light, it’s a beautiful classic shade!
Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
Rounding out this list of coastal living room paint colors is a tried and true fave – Benjamin Moore Hale Navy.
There is something about this color that provides the perfect amount of richness to a space without being too overpowering.
It’s the perfect color for a living room accent wall or going super bold and doing something like painting walls and ceiling for a cozy media room vibe.
Regardless of what color you choose, these colors can help create a sense of calm and relaxation in any coastal living room.
The flexibility of these colors allows them to blend seamlessly with a variety of design styles, making a versatile palette for creating your own seaside sanctuary, regardless of whether you’re on the coast or not!
